Description
The nervous system is the information highway used by the body to transmit signals and commands from one part of the body to another. It is the substrate upon which we interpret and interact with the outside world, as well as maintain homeostasis of major internal organ function. As such, neural engineering methods that monitor and inject the information stream contained with the nervous system gives us a means to understand functional signaling as well as a pathway to modify pathological or provide restorative function within the body. This project aims to develop methods, devices, and techniques to enable real time, continuous monitoring of neural signals in the presence of neuromodulatory electrical stimulation by modifying existing devices or algorithms, developing custom devices and software, and identifying/simulating novel methods.
